The 2025-26 school year is well underway and we took a few minutes to chat with new Oregon High School (OHS) principal, Maggie Zywicki on Inside the OSD. In this podcast interview, Dr. Leslie Bergstrom speaks with Zywicki about her experience in education, path to leadership, and vision for OHS now and moving forward. We also heard a little bit about how the updated electronic device / cell phone policy is going at OHS.

After months of discussion, data analysis, and community engagement, the Oregon School Board has approved a 1-hour later school start time for students on Mondays beginning on January 5, 2026. Educators will use the this one hour time period to engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). PLCs are structured collaboration sessions in which educators examine evidence of student learning and make instructional decisions based on what they learn - a practice known to increase student achievement.
